Ingredients

  • 4 slices 4 white bread

  • 50 grams 50 cherry tomatoes, halved and sauteed

  • 1 whole 1 bell pepper, any color

  • 5 grams 5 fresh basil

  • 2 tablespoons 2 egg wash

  • 1/2 cup 1/2 mozzarella cheese, grated

  • 1/2 cup 1/2 pizza sauce or marinara sauce

  • 1/2 tablespoon 1/2 Italian seasoning

  • 1 teaspoon 1 black pepper

  • 1 tablespoon 1 butter, melted

  • 12 pieces 12 Pepperoni slices

Directions

  • Place the bread on a flat surface, and neatly trim off the edges using a knife.
  • Using a rolling pin or glass, flatten the white bread until thin. Make sure each slice is evenly flattened.
  • Spread a generous amount of pizza sauce or marinara sauce all over the center of the bread.
  • Sprinkle around half a tablespoon of mozzarella cheese over the pizza sauce.
  • Assemble the toppings: basil, tomatoes, bell pepper, pepperoni.
  • Season with black pepper and Italian seasoning.
  • Get a kitchen brush and lightly brush the four edges with egg wash. Water or milk is a good alternative.
  • Carefully fold the bread in half, making sure the toppings don’t fall off.
  • Press and seal the edges with a fork after folding the bread. Then flip it over and press the edges again on the other side.
  • Lightly brush both sides with butter for a crispier finish.
  • Preheat air fryer to 180°C or 350°F for three minutes, or according to your air fryer’s instructions.
  • Carefully place the pizza pockets in the air fryer, making sure there’s space between each one. If needed, cook in multiple batches.
  • Set the timer for eight minutes, or cook until the pizza pockets turn golden brown.
  • Transfer to a plate and serve with your favorite dipping sauce!
