There’s something about the combination of strawberries and chocolate that always feels like a treats, especially when it’s tucked between two slices of golden, custard-soaked brioche. This air fryer strawberry chocolate French toast is simple to make but looks and tastes like something you’d order at a café. The best part? The air fryer does all the work!
Ingredients You’ll Need
Here are the ingredients you’ll need for the best Air Fryer Strawberry Chocolate French Toast

- Bread: Of course, it’s not a french toast without your bread. When it comes to French Toast, you can choose among a wide variety of bread, preferably thick ones. In this recipe, I used Brioche bread.
- Milk: You can use any milk of your choice, whether it’s whole, almond or oat milk. But, if you’re looking for a dairy-free one, consider unsweetened oat milk like the one I used in this recipe.
- Whole eggs: Adds flavor, and helps bind custard to the bread.
- Cinnamon and Vanilla extract: For the warm and sweet taste, and aroma. Pretty optional, but I highly suggest adding them.
- Chocolate: Chocolate goes inside the filling and toppings.
- Strawberry: Any strawberry that you have will do. Fresh and ripe strawberries of course come on top, but frozen ones also work.

How to make the French Toast custard mixture
When making the best French Toast, it’s all about how you make the custard. Here’s the step-by-step procedure that you need to follow when making the French Toast custard mixture.

Get a mixing bowl and whisk together two whole eggs. Beat the eggs thoroughly to avoid a stringy texture, which may cause clumps. Then, add unsweetened oat milk, ground cinnamon, and salt. Finally, stir in the vanilla extract.
Now, if you enjoy a much crispier exterior, consider adding between 1 and 2 teaspoons of flour.
Depending on your preference, you can add sugar to your custard. But since I’m adding strawberries and chocolates, I find it unnecessary to add sugar.
How to make the perfect Air Fryer Strawberry Chocolate French Toast
Here’s everything you need to know about the best way to make the perfect Air Fryer Strawberry Chocolate French Toast.
- Preheat air fryer to 180°C or 350°F for three to five minutes. This is ideal for crisping up bread.
- Lay down a flat plate or tray, and place your brioche bread slices on it.
- Using a butter knife, spoon, or offset spatula, generously spread chocolate all over one slice and top it with strawberry slices. Always make sure the chocolate you’re using is soft, so you won’t struggle too much when spreading it. If you’re a chocolate lover, well, resist the urge to overload with chocolate, or it might leak out as it cooks. Now, this will serve as the filling for your French toast.

- Take the second slice of bread and place it on top of the one with the strawberries and chocolate.
- In another mixing bowl, use a whisk to combine eggs, unsweetened oat milk, ground cinnamon, salt, and vanilla extract.
- Grab the brioche bread and dip it into the French toast custard using tongs or your hands. Hands are still the most effective, as long as they’re clean. If you’re using tongs, avoid metal ones and don’t grip too tightly, as you might tear the bread.
- Dip it for 15 seconds on each side. This is assuming you’re using stale and thick bread slices. Otherwise, you may need to lessen it to five to ten seconds per side. Gently lift after dipping, and let the extra custard drip off your bread.

- Pop the coated bread into your air fryer, give it a quick spray of oil, and cook for 10 minutes. Flip it halfway, and if you like it extra crispy, feel free to add a couple more minutes.

- Transfer to a plate, feel free to add your toppings and serve!
Tips for the best Air Fryer Strawberry Chocolate French Toast
- Use dry and stale, or day-old bread. Dry bread tends to absorb the custard mixture nicely, with less chance for it to fall apart. Avoid fresh or moist bread as they can get mushy, which is the last thing you’ll need from your French toast.
- If there’s no stale or dry bread on hand, simply toast or bake the slices briefly to help remove excess moisture before dipping them in the custard mixture.
