With a rich chocolate drizzle, fresh strawberries, and a hint of cinnamon, this air fryer French toast is crispy on the outside, soft inside, and ready in minutes.

Ingredients

  • 4 slices day-old or leftover Brioche bread, or any bread that you prefer

  • 1/4 cup melted 85% dark chocolate, or chocolate syrup

  • 200 grams strawberries, sliced and whole

  • 2 piece large whole eggs

  • 1/2 cup unsweetened oat milk

  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 1/8 teaspoon salt

Directions

  • Preheat the air fryer to 180°C or 350°F for five minutes.
  • Set a brioche slice down on a tray or flat plate.
  • Spread a spoonful of melted dark chocolate or syrup across the bread.
  • Cut the strawberries into thin circles, then arrange them on top of the chocolate.
  • Place another slice of bread on top to make it like a sandwich.
  • In a mixing bowl, use a whisk to combine whole eggs, unsweetened oat milk, ground cinnamon, salt, and vanilla extract.
  • Dip the bread into the custard for 15 seconds per side. Don’t over-soak, as the bread may fall apart.
  • Take out the air fryer basket and carefully place the coated bread in it.

Get a mixing bowl and whisk together two whole eggs. Beat the eggs thoroughly to avoid a stringy texture, which may cause clumps. Then, add unsweetened oat milk, ground cinnamon, and salt. Finally, stir in the vanilla extract.

Now, if you enjoy a much crispier exterior, consider adding between 1 and 2 teaspoons of flour.

Depending on your preference, you can add sugar to your custard. But since I’m adding strawberries and chocolates, I find it unnecessary to add sugar.

  • Using a butter knife, spoon, or offset spatula, generously spread chocolate all over one slice and top it with strawberry slices. Always make sure the chocolate you’re using is soft, so you won’t struggle too much when spreading it. If you’re a chocolate lover, well, resist the urge to overload with chocolate, or it might leak out as it cooks. Now, this will serve as the filling for your French toast.

  • Slice strawberries thinly. Thin strawberries won’t make the sandwich bulky, and it will release less moisture.
