Ingredients

  • Garlic Butter
  • 1/4 cup or half stick butter, salted or unsalted

  • 3 cloves of garlic, minced

  • 1/2 tablespoon of parsley, chopped

  • 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning

  • 1/8 teaspoon salt (if using unsalted butter), or to taste

  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper, or to taste

  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 2 tablespoons Parmigiano Reggiano or Parmesan Cheese, grated

  • Garlic Egg Toast
  • 2 slices of bread (any bread)

  • 1 fresh large egg

  • 2 tablespoons Mozzarella, grated

  • 1 teaspoon fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

  • A pinch of salt and pepper

Directions

  • Garlic Butter
  • Let the butter sit at room temperature for 10 to 15 minutes until it’s soft and spreadable. Alternatively, you can cut the butter into smaller pieces and microwave it for 5 to 10 seconds on medium power.
  • In a mixing bowl, add softened butter, cloves of garlic (minced), Italian seasoning, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, Parmesan Cheese, and chopped parsley.
  • Stir well using a spatula or spoon until fully combined and no large lumps remain.
  • Garlic Egg Toast
  • Preheat the air fryer to 170°C or 340°F for three to five minutes.

  • Take the second slice and cut a hole in the center using a cookie cutter, the rim of a drinking glass, or a shot glass.

  • Spread a generous amount of garlic butter over the top slice, including the edges and sides of the layered bread.

Why you’ll love this recipe

This Air Fryer Garlic Egg Toast is the perfect way to light up your mornings, and even lunch, snack, and dinner if you can get over it. Here’s why you should try it.

  • Quick and fuss-free: This recipe takes full advantage of the air fryer: no hot pans, no splattering oil, and barely any cleanup. My favorite part is that there’s no need to stand guard over the stove, worrying about burnt toast. Just pop it in, let the air fryer do its thing, and enjoy perfectly crisp results every time.
  • Three comfort foods in one: As mentioned, this recipe combines three breakfast staples: egg, toast, and garlic bread. No need to serve multiple plates just to enjoy them all in one go. How convenient!
  • Crispy and full of flavor: It’s buttery, garlicky, cheesy, and packed with herbs and spices! On top of that, the air fryer crisps up the toast nicely, giving it a golden brown finish. You can also customize your toast with any spices, herbs, meats, or vegetables you like.
  • Looks as good as it tastes: Who wouldn’t want to wake up to a warm, cozy, and downright eye-catching breakfast? Just look at those golden-brown edges, the beautifully blistered mozzarella, and that perfectly centered egg. BREAKFAST GOALS, for sure.

What You’ll Need: Air Fryer Cheesy Garlic Egg Toast ingredients

Here are the ingredients that you will need to make the best Air Fryer Garlic Egg Toast.

  • Garlic butter: It’s not garlic toast without the garlic butter. A good mix of salted or unsalted butter, garlic, parsley, parmesan, and seasonings is the way to go. Of course, we’ve also prepared a recipe for this, along with tips on how to make the best Garlic butter.
  • Bread: For this recipe, no need to stress out picking which bread to use. Just use any bread that you have in your pantry, whether it’s white bread, brioche, french, italian bread and more.
  • Cheese: It’s not cheesy garlic egg toast without cheese. This recipe uses a mix of parmesan and mozzarella cheese. Parmesan goes into the garlic butter, while the mozzarella melts beautifully on top of that garlic toast. Hope you’re ready for that cheese pull! You could also add other types of cheese such as Cheddar and Fontina.
  • Fresh Egg: Large eggs work best as they fill up the center hole just right. But feel free to go with medium eggs if you prefer a smaller hole.
  • Seasonings and herbs: Don’t skip the seasoning! It makes the dish hearty and flavorful. You’ll Italian seasonings, salt, pepper, garlic powder.

Making the Garlic Butter for your Garlic Egg Toast

In order to make your garlic butter from scratch, you will need garlic, butter, parsley, parmesan cheese, salt, pepper, and garlic powder.

  • Soften the butter first, it should be spreadable, not melted. Melted butter turns runny and can make your bread soggy, especially when making garlic bread or toast. Softened butter, on the other hand, blends well with the other ingredients and helps them stay in place. You can leave them at room temperature for 10 to 15 minutes, or use a microwave (10 seconds on medium power)
  • Chop and mince three cloves of garlic. Good alternatives are 1 and 1/2 tablespoons of mashed roasted garlic, 1 and 1/2 teaspoons of garlic paste, or 1 teaspoon of garlic powder.
  • Grab a mixing bowl and combine the butter, garlic, chopped fresh parsley, pepper, garlic powder, and Parmesan cheese. If you’re using unsalted butter, you may add 1/8 teaspoon of salt. Mix well with a spoon or spatula until there are no large lumps.
  • Feel free to do a taste test to see if you’d like it saltier, more garlicky, or adjusted to your preference.

How to make the best Cheesy Garlic Egg Toast

Ready for the best Garlic Butter Egg Toast? Simply follow these steps!

  • Preheat air fryer to 170°C or 340°F for three to five minutes. Do not skip this part, especially if you’re aiming for a crispier finish.
  • Prepare two slices of bread. It could be white bread, brioche, french, italian bread or any bread of your choice as long as the slices are flat.
  • Take one slice, use a round cookie cutter or the rim of the drinking glass to make a hole in the middle of the bread.
  • On a plate, layer the bread slices. First, place the whole bread slice and carefully layer the second slice of bread with the hole in the center. Just make sure the edges line up nicely so everything looks even and holds together well.
  • Using a butter knife or spoon, spread the garlic butter over the top slice of the layered bread, making sure to cover the edges and sides as well.
  • Lightly spray the air fryer basket with oil, then carefully transfer the coated bread. Make sure the top slice stays in place and doesn’t slide off the bottom one.
  • Carefully crack an egg and gently pour it right into the hole at the center of the bread. Try to keep the yolk whole and steady. It should sit snugly in the middle while the whites spread across the toast.
  • Sprinkle some salt and a bit of pepper right over the egg. Don’t add too much! Just a pinch of seasonings will do, especially if you don’t want your egg to become bland.
  • Set the timer for eight to ten minutes. Note that the timer depends on your preference when it comes to egg yolk consistency. A runny yolk can be achieved at around 7 minutes, while a firmer one cooks through after about 10. Since cooking time may also vary depending on your air fryer model, I highly recommend testing this recipe with your own. Mine cooked at 10 minutes with a jammy yolk.
  • In the last 4 minutes, toss the mozzarella cheese around the egg and across the bread.
