Why Air Fryer Roasted Baby Potatoes Are a Must-Try

These roasted baby potatoes are so tiny, I’m getting cuteness aggression each time I try to cook them. Besides that, there’s more to love about this recipe.

Best method: Air frying roasted baby potatoes wins by a long shot. Pan fried potatoes means dealing with the hot kitchen and submerging it in sizzling oil, which only makes everything unhealthier. Well, the best of both worlds.

Flavorful: These potatoes may be small, but they’re not lacking of flavor. Thanks to fresh herbs and seasonings, you’ll get to unleash the best out of potatoes by adding these special ingredients.

Versatile and goes well with everything: A perfect side dish to your favorite steak, chicken, midnight snack, movie munches, brunch, dinner. It also could be something that you just want to cook if you’re craving potatoes. After all, it’s among the easiest ways to cook potatoes. Wash, season, pop it in the air fryer, and voila!

how to clean baby potatoes

Now, if the taste of dirt worries you, here are some tips for preparing your baby potatoes before cooking them.

Rinse baby potatoes

Use a strainer or colander that’s big enough to hold all of your baby potatoes. Then, wash baby potatoes in running water, preferably cold, to rinse away any dirt, earthy bits, and soil residue. Scrub with a clean sponge, or gently massage the surface while you’re at it. Don’t forget to give extra attention to the little nooks and crannies where soil tends to stick.

Ice water bath

Get a large bowl, fill it with water, and toss in some ice. Soak all of your potatoes for 15 to 20 minutes. This serves a double purpose; one to completely rinse off all the dirt, and partially draws out some starch, which leads to crispier results. This also works for fries and wedges!

Pat dry

Drain all the water, and lay potatoes on a clean kitchen towel, or paper towel. Pat each pieces until it becomes completely dry. Then, let it air-dry for a few minutes. Note that this is crucial as damp potatoes will never crisp up right, and your sad soggy baby potatoes will disappoint you.

  • Olive oil: Healthy oil with a high smoking point. Gives that golden, crispy finish and helps every seasoning and spice cling better to the potatoes. You can also use avocado oil.
